Founder and Director JJ Hollingsworth has over 20 years
experience in composing and producing music in the San
Francisco Bay Area.

After graduating with a Masters Degree in Composition
from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she
studied with Elinor Armer, Ms. Hollingsworth founded New
Release Alliance (later called California Composers
Consortium) and Film Composers Alliance in 1987.  She
was also an original founder of New Music Bay Area
(formerly known as 20th Century Forum.)

Ms. Hollingsworth has composed over 120 works in a
variety of genres including symphonic, choral, chamber
music, musical theater, cabaret and film score.  More
importantly, she has championed the works of her fellow
composers by facilitating the premiere of over 130 works
by over 30 different composers in the last 20 years.

Her music has been brought to listeners by the very best in
the San Francisco Bay Area including members of the San
Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Opera, The Bay
Brass, Sonos Handbell Ensemble, The Women's
Philharmonic, Symphony Parnassus, Emmit Powell and
the Gospel Elites, The Sierra String Quartet, Citywinds,
The Onyx String Quartet, The Sanford Dole Ensemble, The
Ariel Chamber Players, The San Francisco Saxophone
Quartet, Not Quite Opera, The San Francisco Cabaret
Opera Company and many others.

Her most recent accolade is a composer-in-residence
position at Temple United Methodist Church made
possible by a grant from the American Composers Forum.
